Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador presents an annual Arena Operators course each year. This course is modeled after the Maritime Arena Operations Institute and is designed to provide a quality training opportunity for arena personnel. It is intended to provide you with the key information and practical demonstrations to enhance your skills.

Designed as an introductory certification, this Level I course examines the basics of arena operation. The course content is supplemented with onsite demonstrations and the opportunity to view the various arena operation components such as the refrigeration system, ice resurfacers and ice painting/maintenance.

Course sessions normally include:
  • Ice Making
  • Ice Resurfacers
  • Refrigeration
  • Customer Service
  • Risk Management
  • Custodial Care
Doug Moore Scholarship:
Jet Ice Limited, in conjunction with the International Icemakers Society, offers the Doug Moore Scholarship to support an individual interested in attending the Arena Operators Course. The successful candidate receives a scholarship covering the cost of course registration, transportation, accommodations and meals.
