Program Overview
What is Canadian Tire JumpStart?

There is a growing need in our communities to make physical activity a priority in the lives of Canadian children. Canadian Tire is committed to providing Canadian children with the opportunity to participate in sports and recreation so they can develop essential life skills, self-esteem and confidence. To help make this happen, Canadian Tire Foundation for Families is introducing its new national signature program, Canadian Tire JumpStart, which will deliver assistance to give all kids a sporting chance.

Program Name and Tagline:

Canadian Tire JumpStart
Giving all kids a sporting chance

Mandate:
  • To provide financially disadvantaged children in Canada with the opportunity to participate in sports and recreational activities.
Why We Are Doing This:
  • Research has proven that participation in sports and recreation increases a child's chance of success in life through:
  • A healthier lifestyle
  • Increased self-esteem and confidence
  • Opportunity to learn important leadership skills
  • Improved school performance and future education expectations
  • More positive relationships and strengthened support networks
National Goals:
  • The success of this program will be measured using the following metrics:
  • The number of children assisted
  • The amount of funds raised
  • The level of recognition of the program over time by customers and the general public
Program Execution:
  • With the help of Canadian Tire Associate Dealers and Petroleum Agents, local Chapters will be created in communities across Canada, and will include community partners such as charity and social services partners.
  • The role of the Chapters is to identify the kids in need in the local community and to disburse the funds to cover the cost of registration. Consideration will also be given to fund equipment and transportation costs.
Fundraising:
  • The program will be funded primarily through a variety of fundraising initiatives including a national signature event that will raise funds for allocation at the local community level.
  • Additional funds will be raised through the Canadian Tire network of businesses and through sponsorships and partnerships with our vendor partners.
  • Support will also be sought from other sources who share our mandate such as government, corporations and foundations.
Administration Costs:
  • Canadian Tire Corporation will fund the administrative costs of the program so that 100% of funds raised for the program will go to directly to support kids in need.
Foundation for Families Support:
  • The Foundation for Families is fully committed to this program. Four full time regional Associate Managers, Chapter Development (AMCD) are committed to support this program one each for Western Canada, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
