Funding Helps Communities Develop Recreational Programs


The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced that 228 communities across Newfoundland and Labrador will receive a total of $381,880 to support recreation, sport and active living programs in their communities. [read more]





Provincial Government Invests in Youth Sport and Recreation Program


The Provincial Government has announced an increase in funding for the Canadian Tire JumpStart program. As part of government’s commitment to alleviate and reduce the impact of poverty, an additional $100,000 is being invested in the community-based program to assist thousands of young people across the province. A total of 32 rural communities within Newfoundland and Labrador will soon receive greater support for recreation programs and services as the result of investment from the Provincial Government and the partner communities. {read more}





NL Summer Games Track and Field Events to be Held in Stephenville
The track and field facilities in Stephenville will receive a $35,000 upgrade from the Provincial Government to enable the town to hold the track and field component of the Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games, to be hosted by the City of Corner Brook August 9 - 16. {read more}

Summer Games The 2008 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games are taking place in beautiful Corner Brook August 9-16, 2008. Held every second year, alternating winter and summer, the Games is the largest multi-sport event staged for the youth of the province, bringing together young athletes from 11 to 18 years of age from all regions of the province to share in the spirit of athletic competition.
