The most progressive societies are healthy ones that honour, listen to, lean on and include their elders in building stronger, more dynamic communities.

The new department combines functions from a number of government departments into new branches focused on seniors, aging and social development as well as health promotion, wellness and sport.

On seniors’ issues specifically, the mandate will also cross departments and government agencies – from health care to housing.
