Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador (Recreation NL), member of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) is delighted to announce nation-wide ministerial support for the Framework for Recreation in Canada 2015.
Recreation NL has been working with its partners across Canada to help reinforce the importance of the Framework for the past four years. Its members are delighted to see the endorsement of the framework on a national stage. The Framework for Recreation in Canada 2015 increases opportunities for recreation providers to enhance mental and physical well- being, connect people and nature, and address constraints to participation.
At a meeting in Prince George, BC this past weekend, federal, provincial and territorial Ministers met to discuss the importance of recreation and sport in celebration of 2015 as the Year of Sport in Canada. Along with the Framework for Recreation in Canada 2015, Ministers discussed the Canada Games, Canadian Sport Policy and Healthy Living initiatives.
• Blair Delaney, President of Recreation NL says, “This is an enormous milestone for recreation in Canada. The fact that this Framework is supported across Canada means that the provincial recreation policy Active Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador is aligned with national priorities. It demonstrates the important role that all levels of government play in offering recreation services across the country.”
