NEW Student Scholarship

In a well planned and positive move to help increase the number of knowledgeable professional recreation leaders within the province, Tina Auchinleck-Ryan, President of Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador, has announced two valuable scholarships for recreation students. The scholarships are in effect immediately.

“With increased interest in recreation, especially physical activity, there is a growing need for more professional recreation leaders,” Auchinleck-Ryan, from Torbay, pointed out. “We know that providing scholarships will help with obtaining more of these leaders and so we have put this scholarship program in place.”

Blair Delaney, Recreation Practitioners/Facilities Representative for Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador states, “we are looking forward to receiving many encouraging applications for the scholarships and therefore assisting interested students in reaching the level of expertize that they require.”

Delaney offered “the scholarships support Recreation NL’s goals and mission. They are intended to ensure future quality leadership through the provision of financial support to emerging leaders who are enrolled in recreation studies.”
Those seeking a scholarship will display innovation in completed academic work pertaining to the recreation sector and be members of Recreation NL.

They will demonstrate commitment and leadership, to the recreation sector of the province.
They will provide letters of support acknowledging accomplishments, awards and honors from within the recreation or volunteer related sectors.

The deadline for the receipt of applications is November 30, 2012. Applicants should be forwarded to Recreation NL, P.O. Box 8700, St. John’s, NL, A1B 4J6.
