NL Boccia Athlete Gets Invited to the Canadian National Boccia Team

Parasport NL and Recreation NL are pleased to announce that Michael Mercer from St. John’s has been invited to the Canadian National Boccia Team.
Michael recently competed in the Canadian Nationals in Surrey, BC in which he defeated the 12th ranked player in the world. The Boccia Canada Head Coach, Mario Delisle, invited Michael to play for Team Canada at the upcoming Americas World Cup Open event in Montreal the last week of April. Congratulations Michael.
Boccia is a Paralympic sport that can be played by anyone, with or without a disability. Originally designed for people with severe cerebral palsy, it is now enjoyed by players with a wide variety of disabilities. It’s easy for a beginner to pick up quickly, but builds in intensity and complexity as players hone their skills.
