Each year Recreation NL holds an Annual General Meeting and Conference, normally in the spring of the year, late May – early June. The Conference Agenda normally consists of: keynote speakers, informative workshops, social events, exhibitor’s trade shows, business meetings and more.

Recreation NL would like to invite you to attend our 46th Annual General Meeting & Conference, hosted by the Town of Deer Lake, from May 25-27, 2017, featuring Keynote Speaker Katarina Roxon, Paralympic gold metal winner in 100-m breaststroke. We hope that you will join us at this fun,interactive and educational conference!!

Pre-Conference Sessions

Playground Safety Training Workshop
Wednesday, May 24, 2017 ,9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Designed for recreation leaders (staff and volunteers) who would like to learn about responsibly building and maintaining a community playground. Please see Playground-safety-flyer for further details. REGISTER ONLINE

Recreation Practitioner Training
Thursday May 25th from 10:00am to 3:30pm, Friday May 26th from 9:00am-12:00pm.
Designed for Recreation Practitioners (permanent recreation staff). Recreation Practitioner training will offer current insights and knowledge to support the operational and management of recreation services. Please see 2017 Conference Package for details and to register.

How to Start a Community Garden Workshop
Friday, May 26, 2017 – 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
This workshop will provide and overview of how to start a community garden. Partnering with Food First NL and local community garden groups, you will receive hands-on experience and resources that will serve to get you moving to create your own community garden. Volunteer(s)/Student Training Bursary
Are you a volunteer recreation commission or student that is looking for some financial assistance to attend our conference? Recreation NL offers training bursaries valued at $100.00 for recreation students and $250.00 for volunteer recreation committees/commissions.  To learn more, please see the 2017 Training Bursary ApplicationONLINE APPLICATION

Conference Handbook Advertising
The conference handbook will be distributed to all professionals from the recreation, sport, health, municipal planners, government representatives, non-profit community groups and organizations, volunteers and students attending the AGM & Conference. Businesses, municipalities and organizations can choose to submit a 1/4 page ad, 1/2 page ad or a full page ad.
