Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador Announce Winners of Province-Wide Challenge; Distribute Over $30,000 Worth of Physical Activity Prizes

St. John’s – Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador (Recreation NL) recently clued-up their province-wide 30 Day Challenge, where residents of all ages and abilities, came together to find their fit. Incredibly, 71 communities, 58 schools, and over 40,000 people took part in this community physical activity initiative.

Untitled2“This has been a remarkable success and we are thrilled with the results,” said Tina Auchinleck –Ryan, Chair of Recreation NL’s Physical Activity Committee. “Our hope is that this challenge has inspired the people of Newfoundland and Labrador to incorporate physical activity and healthy choices into their everyday life, resulting in happy healthier people.”

Individuals, schools and community groups came together and planned various activities throughout the month of April. Over $30,000.00 worth of physical activity prizes have been distributed as a result of this wonderful initiative.

Below is a list of prize winners, that were announced at the 44th Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador AGM & Conference, held this past weekend.

30-DAY CHALLENGE: Prizes consisted of all physical activity related equipment including bicycle racks, playground equipment, omnikin balls, GPS, Pedometers, Pickleball sets, Parachutes, Frisbees, skipping ropes, etc

 

Finding Our Fit! ($1,000 Prize)

Fittin’ It In! ($1,500.00 Prize)

-Hr. Main-Lakeview-Chapel Cove Recreation Commission

ACTIVE AT SCHOOL Challenge: Prizes consisted of all physical activity related equipment such as ultimate frisbee, skipping ropes, basketballs, soccer balls, badminton nets, hula hoops, etc
