Retaining Girls in Sport, Recreation & Physical Activity Workshop

This interactive workshop will apply a gender lens to sport and recreation program design in Newfoundland. In this 90 minute session, participants will learn how to holistically design programs to meet the psycho-social needs of girls, in an effort to increase their participation and retention in sport and recreation.

Laura Pottle-Hayley (St. John’s, NL) has a Bachelor of Education, a Bachelor of Special Education, and has a Masters in Educational Leadership. She is in her 20th year as a teacher and is currently the provincial k-3 teacher for remote learning in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Laura is a coach mentor and mom of five children. She is currently the coaches chair for NL Artistic Swimming and a director on the Board of Directors with Sport NL. Laura is a NCCP Master Coach Developer and Evaluator with Coaching NL and Canada Artistic Swimming.

Laura is passionate about furthering women in sport and leadership.
