The ParticipACTION Teen Challenge has been successful throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in breaking down barriers for teens to help them increase their physical activity levels and encourage their peers to get active as well. Here is a recent success story from Cindy Hillier of Allied Youth NL.

“During November 15th to the 22nd, 2014 Allied Youth NL members across the province participated in the annual Up N Active Week. This year’s challenge was to see which post had the highest average of kilometers walked per registered member during the week. The top four posts had an average of 62.2km, 53.2km, 38.2km and 35.5km walked by each registered member in just one week! As well each post had to participate in a physical activity they haven’t tried before. We had posts participating in cheerleading, spending a day at Axtion , having a gym teacher show them some cool new workouts and much more. Overall the week was very successful as we got hundreds of youth “Up N Active”.”
